Sunday, May 20: Why Unitarian Universalists Don't Have Saints - Rev. Bruce Marshall -
Do you aspire to be a saint? If so, you might want to look for another religious community. We don't do sainthood well. This became clear to me thanks to a ministerial colleague who recommended an essay called On Gandhi by George Orwell (who also wrote 1984) Orwell argues that we should not try to be Gandhi, that we should not try to be saints-but that we should follow the rockier path of full engagement with life as it is. In that argument, we encounter what I take to be the essence of Unitarian Universalism. Today is Soup Sunday; the Annual Meeting follows the service.

Sunday, May 27: The Best that Love Can Be - Rev. Diane Teichert,
Paint Branch Unitarian Universalist Church As more and more Unitarian Universalists come to embrace the idea of marriage equality, how is it that we can speak about it as people of faith, and how can we converse with family, friends and co-workers whose religion may teach against it?

Rev. Diane Teichert has served nearly three years as the minister of Paint Branch Unitarian Universalist Church in Adelphi. She previously served congregations in Weymouth, Canton (for ten years) and Bedford, Massachusetts and was the founding coordinator of the Internship Clearinghouse at the Unitarian Universalist Association. Prior to preparing for UU, she was a labor and community organizer and worked on the neighborhood, city, state and national levels.

We will share the cash in the offering with Top Banana.

Today is a nUUsletter deadline.
