Spend a warm fall afternoon listening to beautiful works composed amidst turmoil, reflection, and unfettered imagination.  This concert features original transcriptions of the Preludes by Frederic Chopin transcribed for wind quintet by David Plylar as well as works by Barber, Tomasi, and American composer Dennis Leclaire. The idea of sanctuary harkens back to the Hebrew Bible when certain cities were set aside as havens for those being hounded for alleged or accidental crimes. It blossomed in medieval Europe when churches and cathedrals provided safe harbor for those fleeing oppression and the dangers of regime change.
