Celebrate LGBTQ Pride in this joyous, intergenerational service! We’ll march in our own Pride Parade, sing “We Are Family!” with the Davies Choir, revel in sacred texts from queer poets like Mary Oliver and Walt Whitman, and pay tribute to all those who paved the way to freedom. Sufi mystic and poet Rumi wrote, “As you start to walk on the way, the way appears.” His words reflect an inner trust captured in the Quaker idea that “the way will open.” Contemporary Franciscan Richard Rohr explored a similar notion when he wrote, “the Big River is already flowing through me and I am only one small part of it…” Join us this Sunday as we learn to get out of our own way and trust the Big River!

Born to Fly!

Returning to the wisdom of Rumi, we find these beautiful words: “You have wings. Learn to use them and fly.” The rabbi from Nazareth said something similar thirteen centuries earlier when he explained that, “No one lights a lamp and puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house.” Together we’ll celebrate our personal strengths, uncover the gifts and talents of our fellow travelers, and send those bushel baskets flying!
